(CNS) - No more cheap handguns; licenses with photographs
for all handgun buyers; and a constitutional amendment for victims'
rights: Those are among the proposals Vice President Al Gore will
advance today, when he outlines his anti-crime agenda in Boston.
On the morning news shows, Gore said he wants to keep American
families safe and reduce crime in every category. His plan reportedly
includes more federal money for the nation's court system and
a requirement that drug defendants promise to get off drugs if
they want to stay out of jail -- what's billed as a "Stay
Clean to Stay Out" policy. Gore's anti-crime program reportedly
includes more training for police officers, increased spending
on after-school programs and anti-drug programs, and the establishment
of "gang-free zones."
