"...Now I think
I'm going down to the well tonight
and I'm going to drink till I get my fill
And I hope when I get old I don't sit around
thinking about it
But I probably will
Yeah, just sitting back trying to recapture
a little of the glory of,
Well time slips away
and leaves you with nothing mister but
Boring stories of
Glory days
Glory days, well they'll pass you by
Glory days, in the wink of a young girl's eye
Glory days, glory days..."
Lyrics from the song "Glory Days",
by Bruce Springsteen
To All,
It's deja vu, all over again:
The In-A-Box
Step:
(with
apologies to Tom Lehrer)
(Left-wing) Democrats have tried to mix socialism with politics. From Henry
Wallace to.... Dennis Kucinich (?!).
But George McGovern was the star, who's done the best by far... in emblemizing
what the Far Left would propose to do if ever given The Great Joystick of Power for
just a little while.
It is thus the antiwar platform of that misbegotten 1972 Presidential Campaign that
Howard Dean and the rest of the MoveOn.org wing of the Democrat Part wishes to
return. This was despite this being a place philosophically where Democrats
were slaughtered at the polls (politically speaking) like so many "Hezbo's"
caught in the open without the benefit of hiding behind women and children.
And it is only with this little factoid in hand that yesterday's Connecticut
primary victory of Ned Lamont, over Senator Joseph "Slow Joe" Lieberman, can be
truly analyzed.
For in truth, the only real difference between the veteran Lieberman's record, and what Lamont
has promised during his campaign, has to do solely with how the war on terrorism
is conducted.
Lieberman belongs to the "take it to the enemy" side of realpolitik, on
the principle that it is better to whack your enemies mightily offshore (perhaps
the only kind of offshoring broadly acceptable to the American people)
than to be held hostage to an annual negotiation over danegeld.
Lamont, on the other hand, appears to belong to the Molleycoddle Crowd, who
appear intent on giving succor to the philosophical descendents of Karl Lueger,
Adolf Eichman, and Haj Amin al-Husseini simply due to an antipathy against any
American power projection whatsoever (Something on France's "Promote This" list
since De Gaulle was in knickers).
Of course, The Molleycoddle Crowd's main problem lies with who (and what) they
would wish to "mainstream" into society in the first place. They would "do the deal" with
an Islamofascist rump, giving a loose amalgam of Yesterday's Nazis the means and
moral authority to propagate a system that would deconstruct Western
"liberalism" through violent means.
And as tempting as it would be to subject whole herds of feminists to the
customs of sharia (Think of the effect on the body politic of putting the
likes of Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, and Helen Thomas "under the veil"), such
mainstreaming would also attempt a nullification of some 600 years of
struggle to liberate the human mind from the yoke of clerical hegemony.
Targeted in this movement towards this deconstruction is the invaluable gift of the Founding Fathers, whose enlightened work product gives us the
freedom, the will, and even the means to be able to defend the Republic to this
day. Freedom would be replaced by the poll tax-like construct of "dhimmitude",
simply because the Deans and the MoveOn.org denizens would want us all to quietly enter
the Showers of Intellectual Darkness (perhaps physically as well as
intellectually) with hardly a squeak or squeal.
Fortunately there is the historical example of the 1970's (a period that this
poster came of age in) to remind us as to the ineptitude of the McGovernites and
their designated heirs, from Jimmy Carter on through today. And it is, perhaps,
this very cautionary tale of hapless and naive Liberalism that bodes well for
the future of the Republic.
It may not be necessary to re-live the Malaise Days of the 1970's, just because
a Confused Few wish to relive glory days now made obsolete by technology as well
as historical lessons learned. But it will take the tried and true techniques of
grass-roots political action to stop the "Dean-Dongs", Soros' Gang, and other
assorted political vandals from implementing their misguided philosophy. Given
the prognostications from such observers as Michael Barone, it is more than
likely that America the Exceptional can be preserved for future generations to
come if action is taken now. As always, it will take both faith and elbow grease
to make this come true. Stay tuned.
Respectfully,
