LEAD BAN
Summary:  NRA and CRPA oppose this measure.

Issue:   LEAD AMMO BAN EXPANSION

Description:

Details:   08/10/2009 - Posted related CAL-ERT.

08/06/2009 - Today, the Fish & Game Commission voted 4-1 to NOT expand the lead ammo ban. This is a great victory for pro-gun/pro-hunting supporters across the state. THANK YOU FOR HELPING TO DEFEAT THE EXPANSION OF THE LEAD AMMO BAN.

07/30/2009 - On August 6, the California Fish and Game Commission will be holding its final meeting to consider adoption of the Proposed Resident Small Game & Migratory Upland Game Lead Ban in the Condor Zone.

CRPA and NRA urge you to speak out now on the Lead Ammunition Ban issue. This might be your final opportunity to stop this lead ban proposal. By stopping the adoption of this proposed regulation, we might be able to halt the Lead Ammunition Ban expansion in California.

Refer to today's CAL-ERT for more information.

06/20/2009 - On June 24 at 10 a.m. and June 25 at 8:30 a.m., the California Fish and Game Commission will consider a continued expansion of the lead ammunition ban in the so-called "Condor Zone." These meetings will be held at the Yolo Fliers Club, 17980 County Road 94B, in Woodland. Please make plans to attend one or both of these meetings. If you're unable to attend, please contact the members of the Fish and Game Commission TODAY and respectfully request that they oppose all efforts to extend the ban on lead ammunition. Spread the word to your family friends and fellow gun owners so the Commissioners can hear from as many people as people as possible who oppose a ban on lead ammo. The Commission can be contacted by phone at (916) 653-4899, by fax at (916) 653-5040, or email fgc@fgc.ca.gov.

06/12/2009 - As a result of negotiations with environmental groups who support the banning of lead ammunition, the California Fish and Game has agreed to place on the Commission's Agenda, an expansion of the lead ammunition ban within the so-called "Condor Zone." Lead ammunition ban proponents are hoping to receive the support of the same commissioners who voted their way on the current lead ammunition ban regulations. California's sportsmen must inform the Fish and Game Commission that more bans on lead ammunition is not the right thing to do and will not go unnoticed. Please refer to today's 6/12/09 CAL-ERT for history, videos and more information that will help you fight this issue.

02/13/2009 - Think there is no desire within the Fish & Game Commission to expand the lead ban? WATCH THIS VIDEO from the Commission's 2/5/2009 meeting.

02/10/2009 - Fish & Game Commission playing games trying to shut off your emails! UPDATE: This morning, the Fish & Game Commission is sending out a canned response when you send them an email either to their normal email addresses or by using our ONE-CLICK service. It says...
The public comment period regarding "method of take" and "lead ammunition" is now closed. Please see our website, www.fgc.ca.gov, for all open public comment periods involving the Fish and Game Commission and California Code of Regulations. Thank you.
THIS IS A COMPLETE DODGE. There hasn't been an active lead ammo ban related open comment period since last year. "Open comment periods" only come into effect when an issue has been "agenda-ized" by them (put on the agenda for formal action.) The F & G Commission is now considering AGENDA-IZING EXPANSION OF THE BAN STATE-WIDE. We are trying to prevent this EXPANSION from being agenda-ized, a completely separate issue. Don't allow this canned email response to dissuade you from letting the Fish & Game know what you think. And while you're at it, ask them why they are sending out this message regarding a now-closed "open comment period" from a year ago.

02/06/2009 - Posted NRA Members' Councils CAL-ERT and NRA-ILA's alert - "Statewide Ban on Lead Ammunition Could Be Around the Corner!".

02/05/2009 - Today, the NRA Members' Councils of California learned that some members of the California Fish & Game Commission are planning to attempt to add the state-wide expansion of the limited lead ammunition ban (AB 821 from the 2007 legislative session) to their hearing agenda for 2009. Please contact the Commission and voice your strong opposition to this plan.
