| Description: |
AB 1167, as introduced, Nielsen. Firearms: concealed firearm
licenses: reciprocity. Existing law regulates the carrying of firearms and authorizes the
issuance of a license, as specified, to persons enabling them to
carry firearms that are concealed, or loaded, as specified. This bill would deem persons who have a valid permit or license to
carry a concealed handgun issued by another state or a political
subdivision of another state to be authorized to carry a concealed
handgun pursuant to provisions of California law, as specified. The bill would direct the Department of Justice to enter into
reciprocity agreements with other states so that persons licensed in
this state to carry concealed or loaded firearms would be authorized
to do so in those other states. The department would be required each
month to maintain and publish a list of those states with which this
state has established reciprocity. Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: yes.
