A Taste of Shooting
March 7 @ 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM$50
Curious about guns and want to experience what all the fuss is first-hand?
This event is for anyone with little or no familiarity with firearms, great for anyone who is interested but not sure on where or how to get started. Our experienced coaches facilitate a safe and friendly environment for you and your friends and family to experience firearms for the first time and learn how to safely handle guns. There is a short introduction to safe gun handling and your time on the shooting range will be closely supervised by our experienced shooting coaches.
We provide the firearms that you will get to shoot:
- 22LR rifle,
- 9mm handgun
- AR15 rifle, and
- 12 gauge shotgun.
Bring your drivers license or other identification.
- Appropriate clothes for the weather and comfortable clothes-toed shoes; avoid exposed necklines if possible.
- A baseball cap if you have one to help keep sun out of your eyes and ejected casings out of your face.
- Corrective lenses if you need them to see clearly.
We will provide everything else you need including hearing protection.
There are two things to be prepared for that are always a bit of a surprise for new folks: Guns are loud! Way louder than they seem on TV. That’s why we will be wearing hearing protection. And it’s going to feel scary at first just seeing a gun on the table.
But by the end of this course you will know the basic rules of gun safety and you will be ready to make an informed decision about becoming a responsible gun owner and whether your first gun will be a rifle, pistol, or shotgun.
Please arrive at 11:30AM to do paperwork. The safety lecture will begin promptly at noon. We will meet in the Fred Shed near the range office. Please read the Los Altos Rod and Gun Club range rules but ignore the section that says “The Range does not provide or rent guns. Bring a gun to shoot here…” as we will be providing the guns that you will be shooting.
